First of all, I would like to thank everyone for following my blog from the very beginning until the end. This blog is one of my compulsory projects for Digital Marketing module. I have created this blog under the Wix website and name it “Neuryang BKK” which is contented mainly on Beef dishes. The reason I chose Wix for my website builder is because Wix is easy to use and easy to understand how its tools work. Also, Wix does not required to install any software like WordPress. The link access to my blog is https://neur-yang-bkk.wixsite.com/mysite. The contents were contributed weekly and were published twice a week, every Friday and Saturday, since these two days are the days that most people likely to hang out, find some good restaurants to eat out and spend their times with their friends or partner. The contents of the blogs were written from my own experience, I have read the reviews before visiting the place to guarantee that those reviews are believable. Most of the images and VDOs are taken from the internet and were attached with sources. Although the contents are mainly focus on restaurant and Beef dishes, but some recommended restaurants are like a café, they are not only providing good food but also fulfilling your mood and comforting you from the whole week of working. Therefore, the purpose of the blog is not only food blog but also a lifestyle journal.
Blog’s objective: The objective of creating this blog is to share my own experience and promote restaurants in Bangkok that renowned for their delicious beef dishes, encouraging both Thais and foreigners who are passionate in beef like me to visit the places and experience those recommend food in Bangkok.
Target audiences: Beef lovers for both Thais and foreigners who visit Bangkok and looking for the nice beef restaurant to eat out.
Blog’s Strategies: Using social medias such as Facebook and Twitter to promote my website and always check and improve the blog though Facebook analytic tools to see number of impression and reach. As for the follower in Facebook and Twitter, I have used personal connection in a first stage by inviting them to like my Facebook page and visit my blog. The number of reach and engagement are increasing during the certain time. However, after a while those number are increase slowly. Therefore, I started to insert hashtags that related to my blog’s content such as #BKKfood, #BeefBBQ, #Friday and #Saturday.
Post analysis:
1. Wix – the post that has the most view in Wix website is the Tora Yakiniku x Café post which gain up to 18 views comparing to the other post, which the average views is around 5-10 views.
2. Facebook – Facebook is the best promotion channel comparing to Twitter. It is quite successful for me as I could gain more reach and engagement from the Facebook page. The media does not only lead people to visit my page but also showing that there are some people interest in my page such as comment, like and share. I’ve been sharing my post since September 10 to October 12 and the feedback is quite good for me for the first time as page creator. The most organic reach I got so far is 21 in the third post, moreover, on September 21, reactions, comments and shares are up to 10 time while the maximum overall post clicks is 3 times per post.
3. Twitter – Comparing to Facebook, the engagement is quite low. Due to my less knowledge of how to use the media and less connection in Twitter, it effects the media outcomes. I only have 5 followers in Twitters and only got 1 retweet and 1 comment.
Learning Summaries
This project has taught me of how to create a digital social media content in all aspects such as content planning, page managing and the execution process. I have learned how to create a blog through Wix website which I found that very suits for beginner like me. The website is very straightforward to use and easy to customize. Moreover, I have learned how to create and promote Facebook page as well as learn how to write an interesting post to grab attention from people.
Difficulties:
At the first stage, it is quite challenge for me to choose the topic. Although this project is allowed students to choose any topic as their preference but for me, it quite hard to pick one since I have many interested topic areas. I was hesitated to choose between the topics of ‘local restaurant in Bangkok’ by targeting foreigners as an audient and ‘Beef Restaurant in Bangkok’. However, I chose the latter topic as it is narrower, more challenge and more interesting. Then, I started to hesitate again when it comes to the website that I must work on. I compared between Facebook page and blog. However, I ended up with blog as Neuryang BKK as I think it is more appropriate for my contents.
Other difficulties are the content and blog promotion. Due to the narrow of the topic, there is a few restaurants in Bangkok that specialize in beef, it is hard for me to produce the content as I would like to offer restaurants that can represent a good lifestyle while also providing delicious beef dishes. Therefore, I divided into three main categories; Thai, Japanese and Korean restaurant in order to ease my work of finding the restaurants under the category. The last thing to mention is the promotion. To make my blog success I need to have a good strategy of how to promote by blog. I chose Facebook as a main promoting platform and twitter as the second promoting channel. However, it doesn’t easy as I thought, the number of reaches is easy to gain but the engagement is still low. I think I will continue my blog and try to improve it in the future to gain more engagement and make it more successful.
